Antivirus Email Protection Frequently Asked Questions
  1. What is Coaxim.com Antivirus email protection?
All Coaxim.com email accounts include fully integrated, always up-to-date Antivirus technology powered by Sophos, a global leader in anti-virus solutions. The Antivirus virus definitions are automatically updated at least every hour (without any system interruption) to protect you against the latest virus threats.

  2. Do I need to activate or customize my Antivirus email protection?
No. Our Antivirus software is always on and up-to-date. It is constantly working to protect your mailbox from potentially damaging incoming messages. Antivirus email protection is not customizable.

  3. Do I need additional protection against viruses?
Yes! Coaxim can protect your Coaxim.com email account against viruses; however, it is up to you to protect the rest of your system from infection from other sources. Computer viruses can be transmitted via any means that any other software is transmitted, including: P2P (e.g. Kazaa), HTTP (websites), IM (instant messaging), chat (e.g. IRC), FTP, CD, DVD, flash media (e.g. Memory Stick), floppy disks, PDAs (e.g. PocketPC), cell phones, and more. Please visit our Virus Information page for additional information and resources.

  4. Can Email Rules (in Web Mail) automatically move "Virus found" notifications?
Web Mail can automatically move Antivirus"Virus found" notifications into a folder that you specify, including the Trash folder:

    1) Login to Web Mail.
    2) Choose Options.
    3) Choose Email Rules.
    4) Choose Add Rule.
    5) Enter the following:

    If… Subject begins with
the phrase… Virus found: (Check case sensitive)
    then deliver to… Trash

    6) Choose Add Rule.

Note that other Email Rules may affect a "Virus found" message too.

  5. Does Antivirus work with Check External Email (in Web Mail)?
Antivirus currently cannot scan messages retrieved via the Web Mail Check External Email feature which allows Web Mail to retrieve email from third party POP servers that are outside of Coaxim's control. Check External Email is "off" in Web Mail by default.

There are currently no known email viruses that can automatically execute in Web Mail. (Web Mail automatically strips most embedded scripts, etc.) However, it may still be possible to manually open an infected file attachment, or forward an infected message. POP and IMAP email programs may also be susceptible if external email is ultimately downloaded by a dedicated email program such as Outlook or Outlook Express.

  6. Where can I find additional information about protecting myself from viruses?
